Sheila Gaccetta on the Road with Doug "Ragin' Cajun" Kershaw
By Sheila Gaccetta,
Board of Director as
Treasurer of CCMHOF
I had a once in a life time opportunity not only just to go on the road
but to be the merchandise manager for Country Music/ Ragin' Cajun Star Mr. Doug Kershaw. We must have sold a ton of CDs, DVDs, etc, etc.
Doug Kershaw - The Ragin' Cajun was the STAR Headliner at the Wichita Falls, Texas HUGE Annual Cajun Festival Saturday, May 9th, 2009.
Being here and having a small part in this thing was more than this light headed lady from Denver, Colorado could hope to do in her life time - As B.O.D. treasurer for the CCMHOF of, I was especially proud of the fact that Doug`s backup band was staffed with our Country Music Hall Of Fame inducted members. Karen Osburn-bass guitar/vocals, Clip Cookson-steel guitar & with Ron Klein drums.
This wonderful band of CCMHOF musicians took to the stage, setting up first, their own equipment and then the STAR`S equipment arrived. I noted Karen, Clip, Rudy & Ron all working together like a spoke inside of a wheel setting up and testing all that stuff, YES, to me, it was just STUFF. When the testing one two, testing one two stopped I heard some one say lets kick it.
Well good people reading this article, all I can say is, I was moved beyond words. Karen Osburn, Clip Cookson, Ron Klein sounded like nothing I`ve ever heard before. Rudy Grant opened with "Six Days On the Road".
Then Doug Kershaw took the stage. I tell you, I`ve never seen such Fiddling and a-picking, a romping & a-stomping - hopping and carrying on in all my life. This Wild Ragin Cajun, with the backing of three of the worlds finest musicians, put on a show down in Wichita Falls, Texas that I`m sure these wonderful people will be talking about for a long time to come.
Then, it came, like a thief in the night, it robbed this larger than Texas size starry eyed crowd of delighted spectators of the one thing they didn't want to let go, and that was, this 5-ft 7-in stick of entertaining dynamite that had stolen their hearts and soul in such a short time. But, all good things must come to and end and this my friend, as great as it`s been, is no exception. It`s hotel time again.Soooo, till the next show, I will join this bewildered lowly bunch of weeder's and start tumbling along.
Just wanna say to the back-up band, you played your hearts out Saturday night. I`m so very proud to serve on the Board of Directors that serves you. You are Wonderful.
